About Passiflora Herbal Medicine Sourcing
Our ingredients are sourced through sustainable wildcrafting as well as buying from organic herbal companies for herbs we are unable to personally harvest/grow. By harvesting the bulk of our own plants for food and for medicine, we believe we connect with the plants themselves making our medicine even more potent and personal. We love visiting plants through the seasons, sitting with them, observing the land where they live, & absorbing the information we would never know by simply ordering them via the internet. This translates through the medicine we make and believe you will notice a difference!!
A word about Tinctures
Tinctures, when taken under the tongue are assimilated directly into the blood stream so they are the strongest, most immediate herbal remedy that exists. Some remedies are strong-tasting and bitter in taste, so you can take your dosage with juice or tea. A diluted formula is also recommended for children. Though not essential, you'll get the most out of the tincture if taken on an empty stomach.
If you are opposed to any use of alcohol, add the tincture to a cup of hot water and let sit for about 5 minutes. The alcohol will evaporate within that time leaving the herbal extract for you to drink.
The dosage of a tincture depends on the body type and weight of the individual. The usual dosage is dependent on the remedy and plant medicine itself. Tinctures should be shaken before use as some of them contain roots which are ground to extract the maximum strength of the herb. Herbal tinctures are meant to be self-regulating and are one of the safest herbal preparations, as it is easy to adjust the dosage to individual habits and metabolism under the guidance of an herbalist. Herbs work slowly, but deliberately in the body’s systems & one of the most important considerations is that continual use over time is the way natural medicines work. In order to be effective, a person must take tinctures every day for several weeks to feel the full benefit.
